

Memorial Park
Memorial Park is Jasper's oldest and largest park, located in the historic North Highlands area of the city. Within the park are pavilions, a playground, softball and T-ball fields, a mile-long outdoor walking track, a pond, the Memorial Park Natatorium and outdoor swimming pools, Lee Swann Gym, three soccer fields, the Senior Citizens Recreation Center, and outdoor pickleball courts.

Memorial Park Natatorium
Memorial Park Natatorium houses an indoor six-lane pool outdoor pool and meeting rooms. A variety of rooms are available for groups, businesses, churches, etc. for their exclusive use on a rental basis. The Natatorium Activities Department strives to provide the citizens of Jasper with safe, accessible, and affordable programs to promote quality of life for our community. Memorial Park Natatorium proves to be a provider of quality leisure time activities, programs, events, facilities, and open space for our citizens. Arts and culture, fairs and festivals, and self-improvement courses are all examples of activities offered at the Natatorium.


Oak Mountain State Park
Oak Mountain State Park has grown to 11,861 acres making it Alabama’s largest state park. Mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking are three of the most popular activities at the park. With more than 100 miles of trails, visitors have plenty of options to choose from be it a short loop or an overnight trip. The Red Trail has even been included on the International Mountain Biking Association’s (IMBA) list of EPIC rides. The park also features a pump track and BMX course, Flipside Watersports cable skiing, inflatable aquapark obstacle course, marina rentals, basketball courts, nature programs, Peavine Falls, Oak Mountain Interpretive Center, an 18-hole golf course and driving range, two beaches and swimming areas, three fishing lakes, picnic areas, playground, pickleball court, archery range, Alabama Wildlife Center, and horseback riding facilities.

Stony Lonesome OHV Park
Stony Lonesome is the first public OHV park of its kind in the state. Open year-round, the 1456+ acre park features trails for ATVs, rock crawlers, dirt bikes, mountain bikers, equestrians, hikers, pedestrians, and much more.

Walker County Lake
Walker County Lake, located off I-22 and approximately 10 minutes from Jasper’s Main Street, is one of Central Alabama’s best kept recreational destinations. Offering a variety of activities including fishing, walking trails, picnicking, birding, and archery, Walker County Lake has something for everyone.

Lewis "Smith Lake"
Lewis Smith lake has 21,000 acres of some of the cleanest and deepest lake water in the USA (260ft) and over 500 miles of beautiful tree-lined coastline. With average summer water temperatures of 80°, you’ll want to pack your swimsuits. With ten marinas dotted around the lake, and many public launch facilities, Smith Lake provides plenty of opportunities to get out and play. The lake is a popular sports fishing destination with guided trips on Smith Lake, Alabama for trophy striped bass.The western side of Smith Lake is crowned by the 180,000 acre Bankhead National Forest, and the Sipsey Wilderness home to Alabama’s largest tree, the Big Tree. Located on the Sipsey Fork is Alabama’s only year-round “put and take” rainbow trout fishery. If you’re interested in fly fishing near Smith Lake in Alabama, Riverside Fly Shop is a great place to start. They offer guided trips and supplies for both beginners and experienced anglers.Smith Lake Park has some great walking and bike trails, suitable for kids and big kids!

Sypsey Wilderness Trail
This 24.2-mile loop trail is near Haleyville, Alabama. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 9 h 1 min to complete. This is a popular trail for backpacking, camping, and hiking. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.

Robert Trent Jones at Oxmoor Valley, Lakeshore Drive
Centrally located in the state and just minutes from the newly revitalized downtown Birmingham area, the Oxmoor Valley facility was built on former mining land owned by U.S. Steel. Sculpted from the peaks and valleys of the Appalachians, the courses offer scenic forests, numerous creeks, and challenging elevation changes.

Robert Trent Jones at Ross Bridge
Ross Bridge was named one of the top golf resorts in North America by GOLF Magazine in 2019 and has been a favorite of Golf Digest editors for the past four years.
The course meanders through indigenous landscape and around the 259-room Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa. Ross Bridge is the fifth-longest course in the world but offers multiple tees for golfers of all levels. Symbolic of an old parkland-style course, ten holes play along the banks of two significant lakes connected by a spectacular waterfall dropping 80 feet between the 9th and 18th greens. A gristmill added to the waterfall reflects the history of this old mining site. The beauty and challenge of each hole leads many to believe there is not one signature hole but possibly eighteen

Horse Creek Golf Course
Horse Creek Golf Course is a beautiful 18-hole course located in Dora, Alabama just fifteen minutes from Jasper and twenty-five minutes from Birmingham. Horse Creek Golf Course offers a beautiful 18-hole experience. Designed by Robert Kirk and opened in 2000, it spans 6,883 yards from the longest tees, with a par of 72.

Alabama Mining Museum
The Alabama Mining Museum in Dora, Walker County, is a local history and mining industry museum. Focusing on the total concept of coal mining in Alabama from 1890 to 1940. In 1984 the Alabama Mining Museum was designated by the Alabama State Senate as “The Official State Coal Mining Museum of Alabama.

Bankhead House & Heritage Center
The house, which was built in approximately 1924 by William Brockman Bankhead is a great example of Colonial Revival Architecture. Prior to Speaker Bankhead building his home, the land was commonly known as the Kilgore Orchard. Congressman Bankhead was the father of legendary actress Tallulah Bankhead and she was married in the house August 31, 1937 to actor John Emery.
The mission of the Bankhead House & Heritage Center is to be a place where people from all walks of to experience a diverse range of exhibits and events with a focus on art, history, plays, concerts and culture showcasing our community’s many talents, history and future. Open to the public and admission is free.

Birmingham Museum of Art
Located on Reverend Abraham Woods, Jr. Boulevard at Lynn Park, the Birmingham Museum of Art is recognized as one of the finest art museums in the Southeast. Its collection includes more than 18,000 ancient and modern works of art. In addition to the various galleries, the museum also houses a library, cafe and sculpture garden. The Birmingham Museum of Art offers a wide range of programs including gallery lectures, special exhibitions, films, and concerts. Admission is free, and guided tours are offered for groups of eight or more.

Birmingham Civil Rights Museum
The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, a Smithsonian affiliate, is the central museum in the Civil Rights District. Its permanent exhibits use a variety of media to depict life under segregation in the 1950s; explore the Civil Rights Movement, including the Freedom Riders and the marches in Birmingham; and address human rights globally. The Institute also has an extensive archive of documents related to the Civil Rights Movement in Birmingham and around the United States.
