Following a speech at the Economic Development Association of Alabama on Monday, Governor Kay Ivey announced $25.9 million in funding has been allocated to help with economic and infrastructure development across 15 industrial parks, sites and facilities.

Jasper Lumber Co. is getting closer to completing its $135 million investment to upgrade its sawmill facility with high-technology equipment. Work began on the mill improvements in 2020 and should be complete in 2026.

The Jasper Industrial Development Board has been awarded a matching grant through Alabama’s SEEDS program of $85,743.00, the second award given to JIDB from Governor Ivey’s development grant funds program.

The Yorozu project brought $100 million in investment and 300 jobs to Jasper Industrial Park, marking the largest Japanese investment and job creation commitment in Alabama in 2015. Jasper continues to attract businesses with its prime location, strong local workforce, and supportive city leadership.
