Mr. Yago, President of Yorozu Automotive Alabama said the company loves the location in Walker County, choosing it over sites in Alabama and other states. The Jasper site just off Interstate 22 gives Yorozu easy access to automakers in Alabama and Mississippi, he said.

JASPER, Alabama – Auto parts maker Yorozu on Tuesday marked the grand opening of its $110 million manufacturing plant in Walker County, where hiring has been ramping up and will continue to grow.

The Alabama Department of Commerce recognized David Knight with the David R. Echols Distinguished Service Award for exemplary service in economic development at the Economic Development Association of Alabama (EDAA) winter conference, held this year Jan. 29-31 in Birmingham.

Fontaine Military Products of Jasper has a heritage of building heavy duty flatbed trailers for military forces around the world. Its products include 40-ton trailers for the U.S. Air Force, vertical launch trailers for the U.S. Navy, 70-ton tank transport trailers used in the Middle East, and complex communications and transport trailers for the Missile Defense Agency

The Yorozu project, currently under construction in the Jasper Industrial Park, received special recognition and was the largest announced Japanese investment in Alabama for 2015 at $100 million. The project was also recognized as the largest job creation commitment in the state by a Japanese company for 2015 with 300 jobs announced.

Yorozu Corporation, a global tier one automotive supplier, headquartered in Yokohama, Japan broke ground on a new state of the art metal stamping facility in Jasper. The plant is being built on a 50 acre site in the Jasper Industrial Park. Yorozu plans to invest over $100,000,000 to construct and equip the new facility that will employ 300 people.

Yorozu America President Jack Phillips said. “This plant will utilize state of the art technology with respect to production automation and logistics automation. It is the aim of the Yorozu group for this plant to be the number one suspension parts production facility in the world.”

In Walker County, the 400-acre Jasper Industrial Park has earned an Advantage Site designation from the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, indicating to prospects that it is prepared for development.
